7th January 2005 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: SSW Wind Stength: 5-25 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 10ºC Sea Temperature: 9ºC Weather: Grey and miserable Max Speed: 20.3 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 3.6 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Horrible horrible horible!! Decided to head to the estuary as the tide was coming in quickly, the sea was a mess and I was on my own. It looked as though there was enough wind out in the middle of the estuary and with the dead flat water and my new GPS toy I was all ready for a nice speed session. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. Once on the water the wind was horribly gusty (the gustiest I've ever known it) and even in the big gusts there was only just enough to get me planing, and then the gust only lasted a few seconds so I would plane for 10 yards and that would be it. I persevered for a while, but it just wasn't going to happen today so I gave up... |
